Coming from
Interstate 75:
Take Highway
153 North towards the Chickamauga Dam. Stay on Highway 153
North and go past Northgate Mall, Marshall Mize Ford and the new
Target and Wal-Mart in Hixson. Continue on Highway 153 for
approximately 5 miles once you pass the new Wal-Mart.
After you go under the Highway 27 Bypass, go to the 2nd red
light and turn right into the Soddy Daisy Industrial Park (there
is a gas station right there and a Sonic next to it). Go
to the back of the park and turn right onto Gulf View Drive.
KFA is the 4th building on the right. The address is 8401

BEGINNING / INTERMEDIATE CAMP / ADVANCED
(All Ages—6 and older)
The KFA Softball Beginning / Intermediate / Advanced Christmas Camp
is designed for the developing player who wishes to expand her
knowledge of the foundational skills of the game. Students will be
grouped according to skill and age levels while maintaining an
8-to-1 ratio between campers and instructors. Instructional areas
will focus on proper fundamentals of hitting, fielding, catching,
pitching and throwing with emphasis on correct mechanics for the
beginner, intermediate and advanced level student. Students will
participate in agility and speed enhancing drills, while being
taught proper warm-up and cool-down techniques. This camp is a must
for all developing players, however it is advanced enough to give
the older player competitive drills and techniques to enhance their
game.
ELITE CAMP (High School / College Only)
Participation in The KFA Softball Elite Camp is designed for the elite
high school and collegiate player who wishes to build on her extensive
playing experience by fine-tuning skills under the guidance of
collegiate coaches and players. Students will participate in an
enhanced softball throwing program that will assist in the development
of good muscle balance to protect the muscles of the shoulder while
increasing velocity for both overhand and underhand throwing. Focus on
the mental game, avoiding burn-out and college recruitment
fundamentals will be discussed with students. Advanced base-running
techniques including proper lead-off for bunt, sacrifice, and first
and third situations will be demonstrated and learned. Students will
participate in advanced agility and lateral speed enhancing drills.
Pitchers and Catchers will be provided with Pitcher / Catcher cheat
sheets to help them learn to call pitches and to know which pitches to
throw and when to throw them. Hitting instruction will be based on the
system used at Chattanooga State to garner the 4th highest team
batting average in the nation. Instruction will include hitting drills
for the advanced player while teaching players to recognize and
correct common hitting problems. High school players who will be
playing school ball during the Spring 2008 season and seeking to play
at the collegiate level should attend this camp.
